What is French polishing?

French polishing is a traditional wood finishing technique that creates a beautiful high gloss appearance when shellac or a lacquer is expertly applied to the surface. Shellac is a natural resin that provides depth to timber and enhances its features creating a stunning finish. The polish also acts as a seal to prevent movement caused by moisture absorption. It keeps dirt out and if the surface is looked after, it will age gracefully.
